New Kitchen Shopping List

Often when we move, we are so focused on getting everything we own to our new home, unpacking that and getting it all set out so that we can continue to live our lives and build on our new start. But getting there takes a while because we all own a lot more stuff than we realise and maybe we just do not know where to put all these things because somehow it’s impractical. But we forget that we need to eat in this process, and we need to drink. Sure it’s easy to go get a takeout for the first day’s dinner, but what about after that?

Getting Supplies

While you’re busy, you might as well get those first groceries. There are a few things that you may have brought over from your old house, but you might be fresh out of stuff that you need for your quick and easy dinner. So do not forget to write a grocery list, because you do not want to waste time making unnecessary trips. You will probably need to get this for the fridge:

  • Fresh Milk
  • Butter / margarine
  • Juices
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Cheese
  • Sandwich meats
  • Eggs
  • Snacks (e.g. little pies, quick pizza, yogurt, etc.)

Panty Storage

You will need a few things in the cupboard too:

  • Pasta, instant noodles and rice
  • Fresh Bread
  • Cereals
  • Instant soups and sauces (cheese sauce, white sauce, mayonnaise, mustard, tomato sauce)
  • Peanut butter, syrup, Bovril /Marmite
  • Honey
  • Tea, coffee, sugar
  • Cooking oil
  • Vinegar
  • Your favourite canned foods
  • Spices (salt, pepper, cinnamon, garlic and onion powder, paprika, nutmeg)

Freezer and Everything In-between

You will need cleaning supplies, an absolute must. This includes new sponges and clothes for the dishes, while using the old ones to clean up messes. You will need all the detergents and soaps that you don’t already have because you might need to clean certain rooms or appliances. But for your freezer you will want to get some meats and poultry that you like, some frozen vegetables, frozen fruit, and ice cream as a reward for all your hard work.
